PEP mini Netball empowers and upskills local coaches through PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions

PEP, Africa’s largest single brand retailer is very proud to announce further expansion to PEP mini Netball by introducing a new initiative aimed at empowering and upskilling local netball coaches through its PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions. This transformative programme aims to enhance coaching techniques, deepen coaches’ knowledge of the game, develop leadership skills, and elevate the overall standard of netball coaching at a PEP mini Netball level.

As part of this initiative, PEP is proud to collaborate with two experts who have significantly contributed to netball in South Africa. Dumisani Chauke, former Spar Proteas Assistant Coach will become the official ambassador of PEP mini Netball. Dr Elsje Jordaan, a Sports Scientist from Sportisimo, will serve as the coaching facilitator for the PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions. The sessions will see hundreds of coaches across six provinces, Gauteng, Western Cape, Free State, Limpopo, Northern Cape & North West Province, equipped with the skills needed to foster the holistic development of young players, with Limpopo being the first province to host the coaching session.

“The PEP mini Netball programme is growing and we are delighted to embark on this journey with two highly respected figures in the netball community, Dumisani Chauke and Dr Elsje Jordaan for the PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions,” expressed  Beyers van der Merwe, Chief Marketing Officer at PEP. “They both bring a wealth of experience and skill to this programme. Their passion for the game and commitment to empowering young players and coaches aligns perfectly with our key founding principles of providing  accessibility and positive influence in local communities.”

Dumisani Chauke, who is also the Head of Sports at the Tshwane University of Technology, has played a vital role in the growth of netball in the country. Chauke said, “The PEP mini Netball programme is very close to my heart. I am passionate about empowering coaches and nurturing talent within the netball community. While young girls are given the opportunity to play netball, coaches are not left behind through initiatives like the PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions. PEP is making a difference in the lives of coaches and players alike. I am thrilled to be part of this journey and look forward to inspiring others to aim high and achieve their full potential.”

Coaches play a crucial role as mentors and role models for their players. Cultivating a supportive environment and a sense of community for their teams. “I am excited to contribute to the growth and development of PEP mini Netball in our country. It is great to witness that PEP has decided to not only invest in the development of the players but also the development of coaches. Through the PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions, our goal is to educate and exchange ideas on how our netball games can be elevated. We aim to empower coaches with the tools and confidence they need to make a lasting impact on the players they mentor. By working together with our communities, we can develop passionate and skilled coaches dedicated to nurturing the next generation of netball players,” said Dr Elsje Jordaan, current Golden Fireballs Coach and Facilitator of the PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions.

Coaches play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of their players, guiding them towards reaching their full potential. This responsibility is immense, and coaches must receive support to develop their leadership skills and coaching expertise. Partnering with esteemed motivational speaker and team culture coach Minnette Dempsey will further enhance our ability to inspire and empower. Investing in the development of coaches should be our top priority, as they are undeniably our most valuable asset,” Jordaan emphasised.

We’d like to thank our partner, South African Schools Netball (SASN) for their support, and participation in making sure that we give young girls a platform to aim high on the netball court. Through initiatives like PEP mini Netball Coaching Sessions, we aim to create a lasting impact that will benefit coaches and players alike for years to come,” concluded van der Merwe.
